Lizzie McGuire Sequel Series
Hillary Duff appeared on stage at D23 Expo to confirm she is returning as her iconic Disney Channel character Lizzie McGuire for a sequel series. It will focus on Duff-as=McGuire as the character is now 30 and living in New York. The animated Lizzie, who offered asides throughout the show, will return to commentate on modern-day Lizzie’s life as she works as the apprentice to a decorator. The show will also see the return of Lizzie McGuire’ original creator Terri Minsky.

High School Musical: The Musical – The Series First Trailer
Disney debuted the first trailer to the D23 Expo hall for High School Musical: The Musical – The Series, its meta-take on one of the most popular Disney Channel Original Movie franchises, High School Musical.
The previously announced High School Musical Disney+ series focuses on the students at East High, where the movies were shot, who end up as the stars of that school’s production of High School Musical: The Musical.
Forky Asks a Question
After starring in this summer’s Toy Story 4, the Pixar breakout character Forky, voiced by Arrested Development’s Tony Hale, is getting its own Disney+ series.
Though previously announced, Disney gave fans at the expo a look at the upcoming series, with Hale on stage to introduce the first look.
Monsters at Work
Disney brought out Ben Feldman and Aisha Tyler to introduce the upcoming Disney+ series set in the world of Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. Feldman plays the lead of the workplace comedy, while Tyler plays his mother. On the first day of work for Feldman’s character, the monster factory switches to laugh power after he spent all his time in school training to scare.
Marvel’s What If…?
Marvel debuted the first footage for its animated Disney+ series What If…? to the D23 Expo crowd. Kevin Feige, on stage for the presentation, confirmed that “almost the entire cast” of the MCU will be lending their voices to the animated show.
The footage included the first lines from Jeffrey Wright’s The Watcher, as will as snippets of the storylines, including Bucky/Winter Soldier facing off against a creepy zombie, Peggy Carter getting the super-soldier serum, with Steve Rogers taking on a more bulky, Mark I Iron Man suit.
Peggy Carter herself, Hayley Atwell, appeared on stage following the trailer.
While Tom Hiddleston couldn’t be on hand for D23, he appeared to the D23 Expo crowd via a video message expressing his thanks for continuing to play the beloved MCU character.
Spoilers for Avengers: Endgame follow: Loki’s lead writer and director also appeared on stage to discuss how the show will follow Loki following the events of Avengers: Endgame, seeing where he went with the Tesseract, whether he’ll ever make a friend, and whether “the sun will shine” on Loki again — aka if redemption is ever in his future.
Marvel’s Falcon and the Winter Soldier
Following the confirmation at San Diego Comic-Con that Daniel Bruhl is returning as Baron Zemo, Marvel and Disney confirmed that Emily VanCamp is set to return as Sharon Carter, the character she first appeared as in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Additionally, a new character to the MCU – John Walker – will be played by Wyatt Russell in the series.
Though WandaVision hasn’t started shooting yet, Marvel brought a tone piece to the D23 Expo hall, showing off shots from Avengers: Infinity War intercut with The Dick van Dyke Show.
The series is intended to be “half classic sitcom, half full MCU spectacular,” and the series is set to begin shooting shortly. Ahead of filming, several new WandaVision cast members were announced — Kat Dennings will return as her Thor character Darcy Lewis, Randall Park will be returning as Jimmy Woo, and Kathryn Hahn plays a “Nosey Neighbor”
Three New Marvel Disney+ Shows – Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, and Moon KnightMarvel confirmed it has three new shows coming to Disney+ alongside everything already announced for the platform. Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, and Moon Knight will all individually headline their own shows.
She-Hulk will follow lawyer Jennifer Walters, Moon Knight is a new action-adventure series focusing on Marc Spector, a mercenary left for dead, and Ms. Marvel will follow Kamala Khan.
