The two longest-running shows currently airing on The CW are Supernatural and Arrow, but that won’t be the case too much longer. In early March, news broke that the decision had been made to end Arrow after the upcoming eighth season, which premieres in the fall. Then, mere weeks later, Supernatural co-lead Jared Padalecki shared a video announcing that Supernatural would end after its upcoming fifteenth season. Stephen Amell and Jared Padalecki will soon be out as two of the biggest faces of The CW.
As it turns out, the two stars have been hanging out, and a pic of them together has us already wishing that they would work on a project together. Take a look:
When you’re an actor whose long-running show is ending and your pal is also an actor with a long-running show coming to an end, why not meet up and drink some wine? Cheers indeed! If they are toasting the end of their shows, at least we can be confident that it’s not a somber affair.
In the pic shared by Stephen Amell on Instagram, Jared Padalecki looks like he just cracked a joke, while Amell looks like he’s already cracking up at whatever Padalecki said. It’s nice to see Padalecki smiling after how emotional he was in the video announcing the Supernatural end!
Hey, maybe he too has come to the conclusion that Supernatural ending could actually be pretty awesome. Not many shows are lucky enough to hit 300 episodes, which Padalecki revealed to CinemaBlend that he never expected to hit. Arrow had a healthy run, and it will still be short of 200 when it wraps up.
Now, what could these two actors work together on? Both are by far best-known for their CW roles, so they may be too iconic to tackle any other role on the network for quite a while, at least. If they do work together and it’s not that Arrow/Supernatural crossover that Stephen Amell has talked about, it might have to happen on another network or another medium.
Honestly, if they’re having as much fun in the pic as they seem to be, maybe they just need a Netflix show of them drinking wine and chatting. Throw in Jensen Ackles and maybe some Arrow alums, and I’d check that out!
In all seriousness, it’s no surprise to see Stephen Amell and Jared Padalecki hanging out. Amell has always seemed to have a healthy respect for Supernatural and the guys who have been making it happen in front of the camera for well over a decade, while the Supernatural boys have been pranking him for years. But what next?
Only time will tell. New episodes of Arrow air on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW, while Supernatural episodes air Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET. You can still look forward to both shows hitting the airwaves in the 2019-2020 TV season, although Arrow‘s last season will be shorter than ever. Is my theory correct that the “Crisis On Infinite Earths” crossover will be used to end the show in Season 8?
Well, we’ll have to stick with Arrow Season 7 and Supernatural Season 14 in the midseason TV lineup for the time being.
