Barcelona transfer tweet sends fans into MELTDOWN: ‘Willian announcement incoming’

Earlier this evening, reports suggested Barcelona were set to renew their interest in the Chelsea winger this month.

Barcelona were heavily linked with a move for Willian last summer as the Blues turned down a bids up to £65m.

And the Daily Mail claimed today, Barcelona were considering offering summer signing Malcom in a player-plus cash swap deal for Willian.

Ahead of Barcelona’s clash with Levante tonight, a tweet from Barca’s official account sparked wild speculation on Twitter.

A clip of Malcom controlling the ball exquisitely, was matched with the caption: “What would you like to see happening tonight? (No, we´re not announcing anyone).”

And, as you can imagine, some football fans took that the opposite way, suggesting a deal for Willian is definitely on the cards.

“Willian announcement incoming…Chelsea fans love you” read one reply.

“Announce Willian”, said a second.

“Announce Willian. #TheBarcaWay”, added another.

A fourth said: “I wanna see us act like a big club and not do such a stupid move, Willian for Malcom pls and thank you.”

Malcom joined the Spanish side in summer after controversially pulling out of a proposed move to Roma at the eleventh hour.

But the Brazilian has failed to make an impact in La Liga and has been a bit-part player for Valverde this season.

Malcom cost £38m when he left Bordeaux, meaning Barcelona are unlikely to offer too much cash on top of their swap proposal.

And due to Willian having 18 months left on his current Chelsea contract, the Daily Mail claim the west London club may be tempted to accept.

Willian has been with Chelsea since 2013 and has two Premier League titles to his name.
